Haiti - Education : D-1, Back to School and accompanying measures of the Government
In a note, the Ministry of National Education, confirms to the general public and the education community in particular, that the date of Monday, September 5, 2016 is maintained for Back to School of the new academic year 2016-2017.

In addition, the Ministry states that with the support of the highest State authorities, a set of actions is initiated to support families for back to school and fulfill the promises of the government...:

List of measures :

  • "The subsidy program and staffing of textbooks is being implemented. The books are available in several outlets for certain suppliers ;
  • School feeding services will be available in different schools from the first days of class with emphasis on the quality of services and the use of local products ;
  • School buses will also be available in different circuits to facilitate the transportation of children ;
  • Financial resources were identified to pay the schools involved in the Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO). Once verified by the inspectors of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the schools will be paid ;
  • Teachers appointed in post will gradually start receiving their due before the end of September ».

Moreover, Benjamin Jean-Claude Deputy Spokesperson of the National Police of Haiti (IGPNH), reassures parents and the public and says that the National Police of Haiti (PNH), has a safety plan for assist citizens, especially as part of the official reopening of classes (hich coincides with the electoral campaign). As part of this plan, officers of specialized police units are invited to accompany as necessary, pupils and students.
