Haiti - Politics : Former Senator André leaves political life
Former senator Riché Andris (Organization of People in Struggle - OPL) candidate in the Grand'Anse, defeated at the complementary senatorial elections of January 29 with 37,493 votes against 43,128 votes in favor of the former deputy Jean Rigaud Bélizaire, candidate of the National Consortium of the Haitian Political Parties, decided officially to leave the political life.

He does not intend to contest the result despite he says he has seen a lot of fraud in the last election. He now intends to devote himself to his family and feels that he has done enough for the country. However, he does not hide his disappointment and bitterness for this defeat, criticizing without moderation the electorate who has changed sides and some political players. Reactions that do not honor him, removing all panache at his exit from the political life.

Riché Andris was born in April 1947 in the commune of Dame-Marie. He entered politics at the age of 24, imprisoned 2 years under Jean-Claude Duvalier, then in exile for 10 years. He was Senator of Grand'Anse twice for 10 years and President of the Senate from January 29, 2015 to January 14, 2016.
