Haiti - Politics : The Executive against the renewal of the mandate of the UN Independent Expert 18/03/2017 09:36:07 "[...] We wish to draw the attention of all to the fact that the mechanism by which the independent expert analyzes the general situation of human rights in the country before presenting before the Human Rights Council Of the United Nations, a detailed report accompanied by recommendations, does not constitute a threat to the independence of the country [...] [...] We consider that any decision by the Executive to no longer support the mandate of the Independent Expert on the human rights situation in Haiti should be taken in consultation with the organizations of civil society. We believe that this mechanism, important for the country, is capable of forcing the authorities to make formal commitments to improve the quality of life in Haiti.
