Haiti - Politics : Finance bill 2017-2018 voted almost unanimously
Tuesday, Jude Alix Patrick Salomon, Minister of Economy and Finance, accompanied by his Cabinet Director, Ronald Décembre, Secretary of State for Finance and Michel Sillin, Director General of the Budget went to Parliament in the framework of the vote of the Budget 2017-2018 by the Chamber of Deputies.

The meeting began with the presentation of the report of the Committee on the Economy, Finance and Budget. The Secretary-Rapporteur of the Commission welcomed the realism of the Finance Bill. At the end of the presentation, the Commission encouraged the deputies to vote in favor of the 2017-2018 Finance Bill.

Minister Salomon called on deputies to engage in constructive political dialogue in order to develop a common vision for the future of the country, which should extend beyond a presidential mandate or the lifetime of a government highlighting "Despite the good faith of the Executive, the budget can not cover all the needs of the country in a single exercise" calling for the solidarity of the communes among themselves, wishing that the richest support the poorest.

The finance bill 2017-2018 was voted almost unanimously by the Chamber of Deputies. 74 deputies voted for, 0 against, and 6 deputies chose to abstain.

The Finance Bill will now have to be ratified by the Senate in the same terms before being sent to the Executive for publication in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur".
