Haiti latest for healthcare spending
In the five-year report of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) released this week, entitled "Health in the Americas 2017", Haiti ranks last among the 34 countries in the Region analyzed in terms of health spending. The report indicates that over the past five years, Haiti has invested less than 2% of its GDP in the health sector, while the minimum estimated by experts is 6%.

Haitian passport denial of rumors
Joseph Canciulli, the Director of the Immigration and Emigration Department, denies rumors that all those who have acquired passport stamps before the end of this fiscal year and who have not had time to to deposit their files before Friday would be forced to pay the difference compared to the new tariff of 6,000 gourdes which will enter into force from October 1st. Noting that the stamps sold in this fiscal year will be used to produce 5-year passports while the new tariff will allow for 10-year passports to be printed. Resumption of work in city halls
Wednesday the Mayor of Arcahaie, Rosemila Petit Frère Saint Vil announced the lifting of the three days of strike begun Monday by 49 town halls https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22231-haiti-news-zapping.html to protest against the controversial 2017-2018 budget and call for the payment of 3.5 million gourdes to the municipalities, as set out in the amending budget.
