Work stoppage in 49 town halls
Since Monday and until Wednesday, September 27, 49 town halls of the departments of North, North-East and Artibonite observe a work stoppage to against the controversial budget 2017-2018. They condemn the decision of the Head of State to reduce their capacity to collect taxes for the benefit of the communities and demand the payment to the municipalities of the envelope of 3.5 million gourdes provisioned in the amending budget.

Towards a revision of the budget ?

Justice : threat of resumption of strike
Wando St-Vilier, the President of the Professional Association of Magistrates, said he was satisfied with the strike observed by magistrates during the past two weeks. However, this strike which ended on Friday could resume at the beginning of the judicial recess (first Monday in October), if the government does not meet their demands warns Wando St-Vilier.

2nd promotion of pediatric nurses
On September 22nd, took place the graduation of the second promotion of the specialization training of Haitian nurses in pediatrics (SIPHA) by the Necker Institute of Pediatrics in Haiti (INPHA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health. Since 2015, 57 pediatric nurses have already benefited from this unique 18-month training funded by the French Development Agency (AFD).

Concerns about the judiciary
Former Justice Minister Jean Joseph Exume, said he is worried the various protest movements organized by members of the judiciary to denounce the meager envelope allocated to the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) in the budget 2017-2018. He calls on the government to satisfy the demands of the protesters.

First Lady in Bassin Bleu
The First Lady, Martine Moïse, accompanied by Wilson Fièvre, the Director General of the National Office of Identification (ONI), went to the North-West Department in Bassin Bleu where she was welcomed by the Mayor and the Deputy. This visit is part of the implementation of the registration program for children from 0 to 12 years of age.
