Haiti - Politic : The Government yield to the pressures of customs officers 25/10/2017 09:58:08 It should be remembered that customs officers demanded improvements in working conditions, demanded a significant wage increase and a special status in the same way as police officers, because of the importance of their mission and their responsibilities: fiscal, economic. In this agreement, the Ministry of the Economy is committed to grant several non-wage benefits to various members of the staff of the AGD and a salary adjustment from next 1 October. In addition, the Ministry also undertook to finalize, within a period not exceeding 90 days, the specific status of the customs officer that will come into force, according to the agreement, at the beginning of the fiscal year 2018-2019. New status which will result in a specific salary increase over a period of 2 years. For their part, the members of the two entities have separately pledged not to strike and to facilitate decisions to improve the working conditions of customs agents and staff of the AGD.
