Haiti - Football : El Salvador - Haiti (1-0)
The football team from El Salvador (La Selecta) defeated (1-0) yesterday the National Team of Haiti (Les Grenadiers) in a friendly match at the Cuscatlan Stadium in the Salvadoran capital. This sporting event was the 2nd in the preparation of the Grenadiers (1st game on Nov. 17, victory over Qatar in Doha 0-1) for the playoffs for the 2014 World Cup which begins Aug. 9, 2011.

A release of Eliseo Quintanilla, has foiled the haitian defense at the 14th minutes, has allowed the attacker Rafael Burgos to score the decisive goal of the victory of El Salvador against Haiti.

Throughout the game, the Grenadiers, despite their physical domination, have never had clear opportunities to score against the Selecta. The withdrawal of Patterson (2 yellow cards) by the arbitrator David Espana (Guatemala) in the 55th minute has definitely disadvantaged the national team.

This match took place against a background of controversy following the remarks of the Salvadoran Minister of Health, María Isabel Rodríguez, who had initially claimed (but later retracted her statements), the cancellation of the match and the withdrawal of the Haitian team due to the risk of cholera contamination.
