Haiti - Politic : At the Senate, dirty laundry is washed in public
Earlier this week Senator Joseph Lambert, Senate Speaker on a radio in the capital accused Senator Ricard Pierre (Pitit Dessalin), for stealing a generator in the Senate "Senator Ricard Pierre, has diverted and stealing a generator in the Senate. He should return it to the Senate before asking the people to burn Parliament."

Causing in return an accusation of Senator Pierre, saying "The Senate Speaker Joseph Lambert has rented a house for the sum of 8 million gourdes with funds from the Senate is hijacking..."

Accused of misappropriation Senator Lambert convened a press conference where he explained documents in support "The Conference of Presidents, dated March 5, 2018, decided to make an official residence available to the President of the Assembly national" explaining that it is actually the "rental of a building, furnished" for 7.2 million gourdes and not 8 million, stating "The contract is signed by the Questor, approved by the President of the National Assembly and the Court of Auditors [...] This is the official residence of the President of the National Assembly [...] just as the Republic pays official residences of prestige for the Head of State, the Prime Minister and the Director General of the National Police [...] my colleague absentee Ricard Pierre has chosen to lie about embezzlement of public funds."

Concerning the senator's generator that Senator Pierre had stolen, Joseph Lambert threatens to take action to recover it asserting for Senator Pierre "Administrative measures will be taken to return all property of the Senate."
