Haiti - Chile : 1,172 Haitians repatriated volunteers back in Haiti 04/04/2019 11:54:09

Rodrigo Ubilla indicated that return requests were being reduced, indicating that only an average of 100 people were now registered per week, far from the large volumes at the launch of the Return Plan. He said that most Haitians registered in the voluntary return plan in Haiti, were between 18 and 44 years old and that more than 70% of them were regularly in Chile with a valid visa and resided in the country in the metropolitan area of Santiago, Valparaíso and O'Higgins. However, according to testimonies of the Haitians enrolled in the return plan, they decided to return to Haiti, because of the lack of job opportunities in Chile and integration difficulties mainly because of language.
