Haiti - FLASH : «We are not far from chaos...» dixit Gary Bodeau
Gary Bodeau, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, observes, like many other actors, the worsening of the socio-political and economic crisis that Haiti is going through. In a letter addressed to the political, social and cultural actors, the deputy of Delmas as an engaged citizen, who advocates a Haitian solution, underlines the dangers which hover over the future of Haiti if all the actors concerned refuse to make the overtaking necessary in the perspective of a dialogue for a Haitian solution and to this end calls for a patriotic compromise.

Letter from Gary Bodeau :
"The current crisis in the country can not leave any citizen indifferent. However, to announce my renunciation of the democratic principles that I have long supported would be to conform to the infernal cycle of withdrawal of policies in time of turmoil that must be changed peremptorily. As an actor evolving in the system, I have long advocated its overtaking and expressed my desire to see emerge a new legal-political framework (software change, paradigm shift) that can generate economic recovery, political stability and social balance.

Haiti can not live and take its place among the nations, if we continue with the same stratagems of excluding great political decisions from those who have failed. If this were the case, no leader of the opposition and or the private sector would, today, have his place in the protest movements. They have also failed in their mission as elites in the same way as the authorities. However, their failure, which is also ours, can help correct, prevent and repair the errors that could affect the balance of the Nation. That is why this dark page of national history must bring together all the forces of the Nation, whatever their membership and their political ideology, around a consensus that can help the country to find the path of progress and stability .

Only going beyond the actors, despite their differences, can help citizens regain confidence in the future of the country. The method of using foreigners to facilitate dialogue between Haitians is as outdated as the system. A patriotic wave must cross the Haitian elite to have a beneficial effect on every Haitian. Haitians must show that they can take control of their destiny by doing things differently without tearing each other apart. A strong signal must be sent to the world to mark this turning point in our life as a people.

We are not far from chaos and generalized disorder. Let us take our minds while there is still time. Let's sit down without referees and coaches around a table to discuss the future of Haiti in mutual respect. Let's show our children, our families, our friends, our neighbors, our comrades, our colleagues... that the will to change things animates our differences. So we can make a common front to address the major challenges of national concerns.

With humility, I call for a patriotic compromise to guarantee the future of our children where no subject will be taboo. Because we are at a particularly difficult crossroads that calls for actors, moderation and discernment, but above all an unshakeable will to act in the higher interests of the Nation. The mandates of our elected representatives in particular will not be able to constitute obstacles to this desire to refound the Nation on new bases much more solid. Finally, I promise you in a fairly short time a proposal for a way out of crisis with discussion leads that you can, without prejudice, reject or accept.

Long live Haiti !

Gary BODEAU Committed Citizen
President of the Chamber of Deputies."
