Haiti - Politic : Ceremony of delivery of more than 2,000 checks of 25,000 Gourdes to the National Palace
Tuesday, January 28 at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin, Chesnel Pierre, the Director General of the Office National d'Assurance Vieillesse (ONA), members of the Government and other authorities of the State participated in the official presentation ceremony of the checks of 25,000 Gourdes to 2,026 women recipients of loans from the ONAFanm program, from working popular neighborhoods, in order to promote the development of their business and small business.

In his speech, President Jovenel Moïsie declared "Fanm yo se nanm peyi a,... chapo pou nou [...] Nou kontan remèt chèk bay 2 mil 26 fanm nan kad program ONAFanm nan. Seremoni sa fèt swit a enstriksyon nou te pase responsab ONA yo, 22 desann 2019 la, lè nou tap rankontre divès blòk anndan peyi a, kote n te mande yo pou demokratize zafè kredi pou fanm yo anndan peyi a."

ONAFanm's goal is to get more women to borrow at a low interest rate of 1%, a way to avoid getting high interest rates from loan sharks or other credit institutions.

With this credit, women will gradually be able to get out of poverty. They are granted a reasonable reimbursement period of 6 to 12 months without prior contribution. Beneficiaries who have repaid their entire loan within the time limit will be able to benefit from a higher loan in the future, ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 Gourdes.
"Through the ONAFanm program, beneficiaries will be more autonomous, independent and will be able to ensure a better balance within their families," Said Chesnel Pierre.
