Haiti - Politic : 2nd day at the nunciature, still very far from a political agreement
Thursday in the Nunciature, during the second day of negotiations between the Representatives of the Presidency and signatories of the Kinam agreement (moderate opposition), those of the Marriott (radical opposition), leaders of political parties independent of these agreements of the members of the civil society, of the Conference of the rectors, of the Presidents of Haitian Universities, and in the presence of representatives of the International Community, the participants did not manage to resolve their disagreements on the 3 proposals for exit of the crisis proposed the watch and which have been the subject of intense debates.

At the end of this very lively and sometimes stormy day, one are still very far from a political agreement, there is a lot of divergence on the conception of the new power to end the crisis according to the indiscretions of certain participants.

Around the table positions clash, which so far seem irreconcilable :

  • Signatories to the Marriott agreement (radical opposition) are stuck in their position and demand, before the solution to the crisis, the resignation of the Head of State and reject the idea of ​​holding elections.

  • Opposition leaders of the Kinam moderate agreement and non-aligned parties are in favor of a compromise and proposes a reduction in the mandate of President Jovenel Moïse.

  • For the representatives of the Presidency and the allied parties, there is no question of the resignation of the President or reduction of the duration of his mandate advocating as a solution to the crisis, the formation of a Government of consensus.

These talks are taking place behind closed doors far from microphones and cameras, and the participants having pledged not to make a statement to the media during the negotiations, little is known about it except that the negotiations will be concluded. continue this Friday (3rd and last day scheduled).
