Haiti - Politic : Youri Latortue claims an impartial commission
At the same time that the new postponement in the filing of the documents of Prime Minister-designate, Bernard Gousse, the Senator Youri Latortue, has indicated that a group of five Senators wrote to the President of the Senate, Rudolph Joazile, to ask him to reform the Commission in charge to study the documents of the Prime Minister-designate, due to the partiality of some of its members who have took a public stand against the ratification of Bernard Gousse.

The President of the Senate declared to take note of the request and has informed the five Senators, that he would ask the Assembly of Senators, to consider this request at the next meeting.

"Senators belonging to the current commission has already taken a position, they can not be impartial, this requires a new commission with other senators," declared Sen. Youri Latortue "...today we have five senators : Willy Jean Baptiste, Francisco Delacruz, Edwin Zenny, Michel Clerié and me, who made a statement on the Commission in charge to study the documents of the Prime Minister-designate. You know that there is a commission of 9 members [Lucas François Sainvil, Nènel Cassy, Yvon Buissereth, Wencesclass Lambert, Edwin Zenny, Francisco Dalacruz, Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé, Jean William Jeanty (President of the Commission) and Jean Willy Jean-Baptiste], which was formed to study the file [...] we found that in this commission, there are 5 members [Lucas François Sainvil, Wencesclass Lambert, Yvon Buissereth, Nènel Cassy, Jean Baptiste Bien Aimé] who took a public position against the ratification of Me Bernard Gousse, saying that in any case, they will vote against him.

So today, we believe appropriate to remind the President of the Senate that from the moment where the Senators in the Commission, take a public position, the commission must be challenged [...] under general principles of law, a judge or commissioner can not speak of a file or take a position on an issue while they are charged to study the file.

The Senators who are not part of the Commission, have the right to express their position, but those in the Commission must respect the right of reserve we note that unfortunately this is not the case. 5 senators have asserted that whatever the way they are against [the ratification of Gousse], so there will be no calm, there will be no impartiality and the Senators are in the majority...

We asked the President of the Senate to reform the commission with the Senators who have not took a public position, in order that the Commission make an impartial work."
