Haiti - Politic : The G16 remains inflexible, Bernard Gousse believes in his ratification...
To 4 or 5 days [probably] of the session of ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Me Bernard Gousse, the Group of 16 Senators (G16) opposed to its ratification, does not seem to want to revise its position.

Several Senators favorable to Me Gousse, before the apparent unity and the intransigence of the G16, suggests once again to the candidate for the Prime Minister's Office, to withdraw [to prevent rejection] before the end of its eventual ratification.

For his part the principal interested has no intention to abandon the ratification process, Bernard Gousse declared yesterday on a radio station of the capital "I do not intend to withdraw my candidacy for the Primature . This would be betray the trust of the Head of State" ensuring always have the support of the President of the Republic.

Me Gousse remains confident, despite the opposition of a majority of Senators, to have a chance of being ratified, stating that the discussions are continuing between him and the Senators from different tendencies, in order to obtain the votes necessary for his ratification. If his candidacy is ratified, Me Gousse has indicated, that he was favorable to the formation of a government of national unity.

The Senator Lucas Sainvil, a member of G 16 and one of the members of the Commission responsible for reviewing the documents of the file of candidacy of Me Gousse [Lucas François Sainvil, Nènel Cassy, Yvon Buissereth, Wencesclass Lambert, Edwin Zenny, Francisco Dalacruz, Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé, Jean William Jeanty (President of the Commission) et Jean Willy Jean-Baptiste)] has reiterated Thursday his opposition to the ratification of the choice of the Head of State, recalling that, "whatever the recommendations of the Commission, the vote of the Assembly, will be essentially political..."

Given the absolute majority of his parliamentary bloc, the Senator says, "Me Gousse has no chance to reach the stage of the Senate." A position shared by the Senator Jean Baptiste Bien-Aimé, also a member of G16, who says "see no chance of ratification of the latter by the Senate"

Jean William Jeanty, the President of the Commission of ratification, has promised that the report on the compliance of documents submitted by Me Bernard Gousse. will be submitted Tuesday or Wednesday to the Office of the Senate. The report could then be submitted to the Assembly of Senators in the following hours... But all things being relative in Haiti, submission of the report and vote of the Senate, remain subject to the vagaries of politics... or to the personal interests...

In case of failure, the President Martelly will, will have for the third time, present a new candidate if he wishes to have a prime minister and see the formation of a new government.
