Haiti - Reconstruction : Logistical support of the Minustah for the communes of the West
Thanks to a program of logistical support (1) of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah), to the Government of Haiti, for the first time, the vice-delegation of the Borough of Léogâne, including the communes of Léogâne, Petit-Goâve and Grand-Goâve will be able to work on its own premises.

"Located to Petite Rivière [third communal section of Léogâne], the new premises are composed of 10 offices, installed in three prefabricated modules. They cost just over USD$53,000 dollars, they are fully equipped with office supplies, including computers, printers, storage cabinets, tables, chairs and fans. The building also has a generator with a capacity of 20 KVA whose the supply of fuel will be provided by the Minustah during the first year of operation," explained Martha Lya Cordoba, Head of Regional Office of Léogâne.

This is Andreus Beauvais, Vice-Delegate of Léogâne which is at the origin of the approaches to provide to the Borough of such premises "In the past, members of the vice-delegation had no other choice that to work at home or make their meeting in private premises" explained Mr. Bauvais.

Always within the framework of this program, the Minustah has funded to the tune of 53.600 dollars the construction of premises to house the municipal administration of Cornillon, northwest of Port-au-Prince. The new offices are built on land belonging to the state. Like in Leogane, they are composed of three prefabricated modules and fully equipped and have a generator. A real relief for the deputy mayor, Franz Joseph, who wanted to stress that the mayor was housed for many years "in a house that did not meet the standards of a City Hall."

(1) : A "Memorandum of Understanding between the Minustah and the Haitian government a concerning logistical support of the Minsuath to the Haitian government" was signed April 20, 2011 for a total of USD$7.9 million. This support is intended for the Haitian communes most affected by the earthquake of 2010, including those of the West (Léogâne, Petit Goâve and Grand Goâve), of the Nippes (Miragoâne), South (Les Cayes) and Southeast (Jacmel).
