On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday March 3 around 3:00 am, the last fat day of the carnival in Desdunes (Atibonite), the driver of a sound truck on the Grand-rue suddenly lost control of his vehicle which crashed into the crowd causing a movement of total panic among festival-goers.

The toll is heavy : 5 dead on the spot, including a presenter of Réalité FM 95.1 radio and a 9-year-old, as well as 18 injured, several of them seriously.

According to Phanord Pierre, acting agent for Desdune, the brakes of the truck would have failed.

The truck driver fled.

Reacting to the news, the Prime Minister a.i.
