Haiti - FLASH : Freedom of the Press, Haiti collapses and falls 29 places (world ranking) 04/05/2023 09:37:43
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its article 19 states "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." For the first 4 months of the year already 4 Haitian journalists have lost their lives according to the Organization of Citizens for a New Haiti (OCNH) In the 21st annual world ranking (2023) of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) dominated by Norway in first position with a score of 95.18, Haiti is among the countries that have lost more places with a decline of 29 places. Haiti is 99th out of 180 countries with a score of 57.38 (in 2022 Haiti was ranked 70th with a score of 64.55).
