Haiti - FLASH : The First Lady of Kenya spoke with «Barbecue»
The First Lady of Kenya, Rachel Ruto, her staff and a group of Kenyan, Haitian and American pastors reportedly met earlier in April with the "Leader" of the "viv ansanm" coalition, Jimmy Chérizier alias "Barbecue", in a video conference via Zoom, according to Serge Musasilwa, National Director of a ministry in central Kenya (Segera Mission) and member of the Kenyan delegation which traveled to the United States to meet with church leaders and of companies, American and Haitian officials, as well as representatives of law enforcement and the army, reported the media "Christianity Today".

According to Musasilwa, this approach is in fact a request from Kenyan President William Ruto, who wishes to control the context in order to ensure the success of the mission. "President Ruto tasked the team to provide context to inform law enforcement and increase the chances of success of the security mission." This exchange with the Haitian gang leader was part of Kenya's desire to hear all stakeholders in the Haitian crisis in order to better understand the challenges to which Kenyan police officers will be exposed once the multinational support mission to the security deployed in Haiti.

The Kenyan delegation is expected to submit its report by the end of April, ahead of a presidential trip by William Ruto to the United States in May.

Let's recall that the first lady of Kenya created a prayer group last month, including Kenyan, Haitian and American pastors to intercede for the success of the Kenyan mission in Haiti.

As for the deployment of the security mission, the Kenyan President indicated that it will be deployed once new authorities are installed in Haiti.
