Haiti - Taiwan : 4,4 million for social housing and a school in the South
Mr. Klaus Eberwein, Director General of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) signed Tuesday with the firm Overseas Engineering & Construction Corp. LTDA. S.A (OECC), the contract of project of construction of 100 social housing in Brefèt and a fundamental school in Les Cayes.

This project is the result of an agreement between the Government of Taiwan and the Republic of Haiti through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This donation of $4.42 millions will be used to rehouse 100 families of the Ravine du Sud, exposed to weather hazards and to facilitate th eeducation for some 500 students from the same commune.

These actions of FAES, fall within the scope of the accomplishment of promises made by the President of the Republic, His Excellency, Mr. Joseph Michel Martelly and the realization of the Government's General Policy.

Recall that at the Forum of Directors General on 17 July, the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe had emphasized on the fundamental importance of FAES and confirmed that the results of various projects of FAES will contribute to the improvement of living conditions of vulnerable populations, hence its role in the fight against extreme poverty included in the priorities of President Martelly.

Mr. Eberwein reiterated on this occasion his dedication and commitment to ensure that FAES gives the results expected by the Government through its various activities, in order to ensure a better life to millions of countrymen and to future generations.

FAES work on about 14 programs in the fight against extreme poverty, with a portfolio of over 250 projects, with an annual budget of more than 120 million U.S. dollars. FAES generates over 16,000 direct jobs on a regular basis, through the implementation of its various projects. The Fund of Economic and Social Assistance, works in the fields of Education, Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Nutrition, the Microfinance, Environment, Transport and Local Governance.
