Haiti - Politic : Meeting today Executive-Legislative around the CEP
Lucien Jura, the Spokesman of the Presidency, yesterday Tuesday announced that representatives of the Presidency, will met on Wednesday at 11:00 am, members of the Bicameral Commission, in order to reach a solution to the implementation of the Electoral Council.

[...] The President has designated the 3 representatives who will sit with the representatives of members [of the Bicameral Commission] of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies [Senators : Jocelerme Privert, Lucas Saint-Vil et Jean William Jeanty ; Deputies : Jean Tolbert Alexis, Begens Théus and Guerda Benjamin] as part of discussions that should lead to the establishment of the Electoral Council.

The Representatives of the Presidency are Senators Youri Latortue, Joseph Lambert and the President Martelly himself. As we know, the President's agenda is extremely busy, it may happen that meeting coincides with another big meeting that there is, this is why it is also named the Councillor Pierre-Antoine Louis, which in case of absence of the President, will have to continue the discussions [...]

The two representatives, Lambert and Latortue, are of Councillors [of President], who have a long experience with the reality of Parliament [...] we had to choose the best skills, people who can address the issue, in what they have as sensitivity, as nuance, this is what motivated the the President to make the choice of these two Councillors.

Why the President himself ? Remember that the implementation of the Electoral Council, that will organize the elections, is part of the overall vision of the rule of law. Organize free, fair and democratic and inclusive elections, all this, it is the President Martelly that has 'conveyed' it in his political vision. He considers today, that there is no one better than himself, that is capable to defend this position, this is why he chose to accompany the two Councillor, even more, that it is nowhere written that the President does not have the right.

Tomorrow [Wednesday], they will begin to talk, discuss, present and confront the arguments of senators and deputies, to see how we can find a way to the impasse [...] 'Religion for Peace', was there from the start as a facilitator and mediator, they will be there also Wednesday at the National Palace at 11:00 [...]

There is no a priori in the meeting, in the discussions of Wednesday, do not forget that the Senate of the Republic has made a proposal [...] we believe that the Senate has a willingness to negotiate, which always exists on the side of the Presidency. There is no reason why that the President Martelly does not discuss, we talked an atmosphere of ongoing dialogue that should exist, it has always been the case, if we find interlocutors, who are also willing, then we can go to the negotiations [...] the President of the Republic has no mood, he is ready to discuss until we find the best possible solution to the current impasse..."
