Haiti - Politic : Formation of a bicameral commission to find a solution to the CEP...

Following the meeting of Monday, 5 November between the President Martelly and 12 senators, in an attempt to resolve the crisis that blocks the Parliament and the formation of the Permanent Electoral Council, and on recommendations of mediators of "Religions for Peace", Mgr. Pierre-André Dumas and Pastor Sylvain Exantus ; the Parliament constituted Wednesday a bicameral commission, composed of three Senators (Jocelerme Privert, Lucas Saint-Vil et Jean William Jeanty) and of 3 deputies (Jean Tolbert Alexis, Begens Théus and Guerda Benjamin) which must allow to with the Executive, a solution to the crisis that lasts...

According to Senator Lucas Saint-Vil, the members of the Commission will initially, to define the method of work and an agenda for the working sessions in order to identify common points and discuss of divergent points with the Executive, represented currently by the President Michel Martelly and his advisers Joseph Lambert and Youri Latortue.

The Senator Dieuseul Simon Desras, President of the Senate said he wished that a compromise be quickly found to give Haiti a "Electoral Council of Exception"...

The Permanent Electoral Council is constantly being renamed in recent months : Permanent Electoral Council Conjunctural, Electoral Council of Consensus, Electoral Council or Transitional or Electoral Council of Exception, but beyond these appellations, designed to bypass the Constitution, the elections planned before the end of the year are pushed somewhere in 2013, because on the one hand of divisions within Parliamentarians and disagreement with the position of the Executive, which so far has refused any solution unconstitutional...

Only a consensus between the two powers (Legislative and Executive) may allow the establishment of the CEP for the holding of elections in 2013. The question is to know if this new Commission and the mediation, of "Religions for Peace" will be sufficient to reach a consensual solution between the Parliamentarians and the Executive beyond partisanship and for the good of the population...

In addition, Senator Jean Charles Moïse, who for months, never ceases to be hostile to the formation of a Permanent Electoral Council, denounced this approach and SUDDENLY remember that the Haitian Constitution provides a Permanent Electoral Council... [!!]
