Haiti - Education : Reform of the Vocational Training 28/11/2012 09:12:59 The initiative of the Forum, was taken jointly by the Presidency, the Ministry of National Education, the Office of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and the National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP). Ms. Marina Gourgue, the Secretary of State for Vocational Training has explained that this Forum is part of the efforts to create the momentum of the vocational training, to ensure its promotion among the various sectors of Haitian society and aims to :
"The meeting of this morning is another step in the right direction. The Government, through the Ministries with competence in the field of vocational training, in cooperation with other traditional stakeholders, will take the necessary measures to ensure the success of the reform of the vocational training sector," indiocated the Head of State. The President Martelly, which had officially launched the 'site' of the vocational and technical training to the Pilot Vocational training Centre of Varreux, 7 December 2011, believes it is appropriate now to gather all actors of the training to trades, around the major issues and challenges in the perspective of a valuation of this important sector for the socio-economic development of the country "[...] the access to public and non-public offer, of vocational training of quality, is the starting point for the development of this sector. We work for all municipalities in the country, have a Vocational Training Center for young people, can learn a trade. For the country to advance, we need our apprentices are well trained so that they can be useful to themselves tomorrow [...]" In collaboration with of partners of the international community, the Haitian government has allocated U.S. $5 million for the construction of five new centers especially in the municipalities of Mirebalais, Miragoâne, Pétion-Ville, Milot and Côtes-de-fer, one center by municipalitie. The construction work will be completed in May 2013 announced the President Martelly. "[...] To solve the problem of quality of the professional training, I asked the Minister of Education and Minister of Social Affairs, to do what is possible for them to adapt the workforce, with the needs of the labor market. It is necessary that training programs enable young people to learn a trade in the vocational training center that correspond with the knowledge that the workers and technicians need to work in our business [...]" declared the Head of State. In their intervention, the Minister Vanneur Pierre, Didier Fils-Aimé and Mrs. Marina Gourgue, congratulated the Head of State for his obvious desire to reform the sector of Vocational Training and promised to fully play their part in the numerous actions to do. The President Martelly reiterated his commitment to allow young workers, to workers of the country, to benefit from vocational training, pillar of the reconstruction of Haiti. According to the instructions of the Head of State, this training taking into account 12 trades, must begin from the 7th fundamental year and will be subject to a Certificate of Professional Skills (CAP).
