Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly in Cuba pays tribute to the Haitians heroes
Wednesday morning, the President Michel Martelly took advantage of his visit to Cuba, to salute the memory of Toussaint Louverture and Alexandre Pétion, who were among the most influential in the struggle for the independence of Haiti.

The Head of State went to the Place of the Fraternity in Havana, where are placed the busts of our two national heroes, to lay wreaths, as a recognition of Haiti, of their hard fighting against slavery in Santo Domingo and in favor of freedom of the peoples of Latin America.

In the presence of some members of the Haitian community in Cuba, the Cuban Ambassador in Port-au-Prince, Ricardo García Nápoles, the Director General of MINREX for Latin America and the Caribbean, the President Martelly expressed concern over the sovereignty of Haiti and its economic vulnerability, face the natural events, before addressing to the Haitian community, which expressed him its greater consideration.

The Head of State, after singing the national anthem, performed by the Presidential fanfare of Cuba, promised to work for the rest of his mandate, for the promotion of sustainable development and democracy in Haiti.
