Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly met President Castro 28/11/2012 08:20:15
The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, arrived yesterday Tuesday in the Cuban capital, accompanied by a delegation of ministers, senators and secretaries of state, for the review of the bilateral cooperation, the strengthening of ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries and the signing of various agreements on health, literacy, agriculture and mechanical services. Welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport by Mr. Rogelio Sierra Díaz, Cuban Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Head of State went to the official residence of the Protocol where he quickly set to work with Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir, Foreign Minister, Ms. Stéphanie Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism, Mr. Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Jean Villemond, Minister of Environment, Mr. Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry and the Director of Civil Protection, Ms. Alta Jean-Baptiste. The President of the Republic then went, accompanied by Mr. Rogelio Sierra Díaz, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir, Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the Place de la Revolution, for a visit of Memorial José Martí.
After the military honors of the Cuban Government, the Head of State has sung the national anthem of the two countries. The President Martelly took the opportunity to lay a wreath of flowers at the foot of the National Hero of the Republic of Cuba, José Martí, before going to the Palace of the Revolution, where he was invited by his Cuban counterpart Raúl Castro, with whom he talked for over one hour. The President of the Republic is in Havana to strengthen relations between the two countries ; relations already very propelled into the areas of health, technical training, agriculture, veterinary medicine and sport.
