Haiti - Justice : Hearing of JC Duvalier 4th postponement...
Despite the affirmation of Me Reynold Georges, one of the lawyers of former President Jean-Claude Duvalier who declared "The judge postponed the case for one week, he requires that the former President to appear before the court, then he will appear on February 7th." JC Duvalier was not present for his hearing, being represented by his lawyers Me Reynold Georges, Fritz Canton and Alix Jeanty, who read out a letter from former President, on the reasons for his absence and asked for a postponement of the session. The public prosecutor, who is suing the former President has recognized that this personal appearance was not consistent with the law and the court accepted the postponement of the hearing [the 4th], establishing the personal appearance of Jean-Claude Duvalier February 21, 2013.

In addition, during this session Duvalier's lawyers have unsuccessfully attempt to invalidate the memory, which was served in court February 6, 2013 [the day before the scheduled hearing], by persons constituted as civil party. The Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince, recognized the quality of civil party to the other party. Advocates of the former President, believes that the Judge Jean Joseph Lebrun, President of the Court of Appeal, has been intimidated by some sectors by taking this decision and they do not exclude the possibility of an appeal to the Court of Cassation. Note that such an appeal would allow once more time to "Baby Doc" not to appear before the Judge Lebrun, February 21.
