Haiti - Politic : 24-hours visit of Prime Minister in Caracas
On Tuesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture went to Caracas, Venezuela, for a 24-hour visit, in order to continue discussions with Venezuelan leaders as part of Petrocaribe Agreement.

During the working visit and friendship, the Head of Government meet in a first step, the Vice-President of Venezuela, Rafael Ramírez, Minister of Petroleum, to discuss, among other things, the possibility to import new petroleum products for the benefit of the Haitian people.

Discussions were also held between the Prime Minister Lamothe and responsible of the Latin American Development Bank (CAF) around the establishment of a fund of $25 million for Haiti. Recall that the CAF is a multilateral financial institution whose resources are used to support the funding programs and technical assistance to some countries in the Petrocaribe Economic Zone.

Minister Thomas Jacques had working sessions among others, with the Venezuelan Minister of Food on Phytosanitary Agreement relating to the upcoming export of agricultural products and agro-industrial from Haiti to Venezuela in order to repay part of the debt incurred by the Haitian government under the Petrocaribe program.

The Prime Minister end his day in Caracas by a productive session with Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro.

In addition, the Head of Government of Haiti participated in the afternoon, with President Maduro in a ceremony commemorating the 8 months of the disappearance of Commander Hugo Chavez. In a declaration on Telesur, Prime Minister Lamothe declared "Bring the country to a level of dignity has been done thanks to President Chavez [...] The Haitian people had understood the love of President Chavez for Haiti [...] Haiti appreciate President Chavez. Of heart of every Haitian I want to thank what he did for the humblest and for a country that has had many problems."
