Haiti - Tourism : Delegation of Turks and Caicos in Cap-Haitien

Following the promotion mission of the Ministry of Tourism in October in TCI, the Ministry in collaboration with the Consulate of Haiti to Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) and the airline Sunrise Airways, received last Saturday a large delegation composed of 11 media representatives (SUNTV/Newspaper, WIV, PTV, WHTC/Radio Realize, Radio Creole, Magnetic Media), of Ralph L. Higgs, Director of Tourism in TCI, Miss Turks and Caicos, Snwazna Adams (finalist at Miss Universe 2013) and 3 members of the private sector.

Upon arriving in Cap-Haitien, the delegation was welcomed at the airport by the Regional Director of the Office of Tourism, Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, and Pierre Chauvet, CEO of Citadelle Agency and former President of the Tourist Association of Haiti (ATH).

This familiarization mission whose objective was to explore the tourism potential of the North Destination, was part of the vision of the Ministry of Tourism to develop a partnership between the TCI and northern Haiti, given the proximity [30 minutes flight] between the TCI and the North Destination.

After a guided tour of the ruins of the Palace of Sans-Souci members of the delegation continued on the mountain trail steep and winding leading to the fortress. In Choiseul, after a welcome cocktail at Rebo Snack, they climbed on horseback until the Fort, for a guided tour of the Citadelle. They returned to Milot for lunch at the Cultural Center "Lakou Lakay" in a warm atmosphere with a troubadour and a fresh and unique local cuisine.

After this busy day the delegation returned to Turks and Caicos at 5h00 p.m.

"You have the symbol of freedom, you are a great people," declared Ralph L. Higgs confessing be amazed by the richness and beauty of the National Historical Park composed of the Citadelle Henry, of Sans Souci Palace and Sites of Ramiers.

Thursday, December 12, a Haitian delegation headed by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, will travel to promote the Destination North in TCI. She will meet on this occasion the authorities and members of the public and private sectors, in the framework of the partnership between the two country.
