Haiti - Humanitarian : The humanitarian needs in Haiti, estimated at $169M in 2014
Tuesday at a press conference in Geneva, Peter de Clercq, humanitarian Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Haiti declared "Haiti has made remarkable progress since the 2010 earthquake through the combined efforts of the Government, Civil Society and the International Community."

Among the advances since 2010, Mr. Clercq declared that 89% of the displaced population had already left the camps, the incidence of cholera had been reduced by over 50% and also mentioned that the number of people suffering from hunger declined from 1,5 million to 600,000.

In addition, Peter de Clercq provided an update of the situation in Haiti and asked donors $169 million to provide humanitarian assistance to approximately 817,000 people over the next year, adding that half of the funds requested will be used to provide basic services and permanent solutions for the 145,000 people who are still in temporary shelters.
