Haiti - Social : Mgr. Yves-Marie Péan urged Haitians to unite for the stability of the country

Wednesday, as part of the official ceremonies of the 210th anniversary of Haiti's independence, Bishop of Gonaives, Mgr. Yves-Marie Péan, [also President of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti], in his homily at the Cathedral of Souvenir inscribed the new year under the sign of peace, forgiveness, reconciliation, constructive dialogue, consensus and urged Haitians to work for social stability, family and political of the country.

"We need to make 2014 a year of sincere dialogue and consensus. The situation in the country requires the transcendence from the major players to find definitive solutions to the problems of the country [...] Each of us has its part of responsibility for the current situation. Each of us must learn how to manage public affairs and work for the common good [...] if there is no change in our behavior, the country is moving towards a disaster [...]"

A message that is part of the continuation of that of the Bishop of Les Cayes, Monseigneur Langlois Shibli, who after noting that the country had experienced a year of political, economic and social crises, had invited in his message of Christmas and New Year, people Haiti to unite to save the country by banning divisions, to engage in the path of peace and happiness. According to Mgr Langlois, "2014 promises to be difficult, only unity among all son of the Nation can avoid the country a deeper crisis."
