Haiti - NOTICE : No pre-Carnival activities before January 19, 2014

Josette Darguste, acting Minister of Culture and the Ministry of Communication inform cultural operators in particular and the population of the 10 departments of the country, in general, that the festivities in prelude to the Carnival 2014, will begin Sunday, January 19, 2014 instead of January 12, 2014, date of commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the earthquake.
"The Ministry of Culture and that of Communication exhort the Haitians of all tendencies, to the meditation on the meaning and importance of life, Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. Indeed, all we had been affected, directly or not by this tragedy that has left many in mourning.
The Ministry of Culture and that of Communication, appeal to patriotism, humanism and traditional cooperation of radio and television stations, of DJs, of town halls, of delegations and the National Police of Haiti (PNH) to enforce this provision, which aims to honor the memory of our sisters and brothers disappeared in January 2010."
