Yesterday January 12, 2014, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, the President and Vice-President of the National Assembly and some dignitaries of the state, the religious sector, civil society and the diplomatic corps, commemorated with dignity the 4th anniversary of the earthquake, this day of remembrance and reflection, according to Presidential Decree of 8 January 2014, took place around the theme "Celebrate Life, look at the Future".

The presidential couple went in the morning, on the site of Saint Christophe where he collected and deposited a wreath in memory of the fallen. At the Presidential Palace, a wreath was also deposited in memory of 17 employees disappeared that day.

These gestures of memory clearly reflect a mark of respect for the many compatriots who left us January 12, 2010. Ecumenical ceremony, interpretations of circumstantial songs, moment of silence, siren National Police of Haiti and symbolic released of balloons have also marked this commemorative day.

In is message of circumstance filled with emotions in the Champ de Mars, the Head of State, which has a special thought to the place of all the victims, said that the Haitian people need to celebrate life, while projecting a new look at the future.

"Just as you were demonstrated unity and solidarity in the aftermath of the earthquake, you must unite to keep moving forward on the path of development. It is a duty towards the victims of 12 January," declared President Martelly whose will and commitment to take concrete actions to rebuild the country are obvious.

He took this solemn moment for, on behalf of the Haitian people, address, once again, thanks to the international community for its support during this tragedy.

January 12, 2010, Haiti, as a reed, bent, but remained standing. Four years later, the country continues to forge a place in the world and to further strengthen its cooperation with other countries. Thanks to the determination of the administration Martelly, the dynamism of the Government and the support of friendly countries, many efforts are being made to redress the balance, but much remains to be done. And this Administration, increasingly determined, is conscious. Efforts to Haiti's recovery and stability continue.
