Haiti - Politic : Important preparatory meeting to the annual meeting of the CAED
The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) held its first meeting with different stakeholders around the preparation of the next annual meeting of the Coordination framework of the External Aid for Development (CAED) to be held on the mechanisms of development of this entity, the cooperation and effectiveness of external assistance.

This working meeting attended by among others: Yves Robert Jean, Director General of MPCE, Maxime Chérestal Chief of Staff of the Ministry, Déo Ndikumana, the Representative of the World Bank, Ms. Carmen Rodriquez Arce, General Coordinator of the Spanish Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Sophie de Caen representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Peter de Clercq, representative of the Minustah, focused on the participation and consensus among donors in order to overcome the constraints of all kinds, which could hamper the effectiveness of aid, the development of external cooperation and cohesion with the Government's priorities.

The first preparatory meeting, announced the holding systematically, of various meetings between the MPCE and foreign aid workers, in order to work on a roadmap that would allow the Ministry a better take into account of difficulties that may hinder the effectiveness of external assistance.



In addition, Mr. Déo Ndikumana said he was rejoiced and reassured of the level of discussions and stressed on the necessity of having concrete results and the participation of the Ministry. For its part, Maxime Cherestal, stressed the need to strengthen the management capacity, "Essential to the policy of result and the development strategy of the Administration Martelly and to the Government Lamothe, aimed at make Haiti an emerging country by 2030."

Other stakeholders felt it was important that aid be institutionalized and that the sectors of reflection can engage and meet continuously to define actions with a multiplier effect and an investment program for the 2014-2015 year.
