Haiti - Social : 2nd edition of the Carnival of Petion-ville

The 2nd edition of the Carnival of Petion-ville 2014, will take place on Sunday, February 23, under the theme "Tet kole Petyonvil dwat devan" announced Mayor Yvanka Jolicoeur Brutus "We want a carnival where children can also participate, we want to ensure an open space to the youth."

Mayor assured that steps will be taken, particularly in regard to the mobilization of the Directorate of Civil Protection, security guards of the town hall, the logistics team and the National Police of Haiti, in order to ensure the protection of festival-goers, while appealing to "the conscience, quiet and serenity of all" for the success of these festivities.

The mayor also believes that the Carnival of Petion-ville, will be a good opportunity to show all the different positive changes that have been made ​​in the town, including the construction of hotels, sanitation work and efforts in environment.

More than 12 million gourdes are provided for the organization of the second edition of the Carnival of Petionville who should get the support of the Ministry of Culture. The parade will start from the Town Hall of Petion Ville at 1:00 pm and ends at the corner of St. Therese Church in Aubrant Street the organizers said.

and interim executive agents of Petion-ville for supervision.

Clive Scott indicated that the committee would work in order to give a beautiful carnival like last year, adding that the focus will be on the colors, costumes and decorations.

For his part Carrié Jeff confirmed that there will beallegorical floats, disguised groups and walking bands uring the course of the carnival festivities groups.

"We also want that this carnival is historical, educational and cultural. Education in the sense of a parade that will talk about the history of Haiti, and particularly that of of Petion-ville," added the artistic director.
