Haiti - Politic : Initiation of negotiations to resolve the crisis in Ouanaminthe

Saturday, David Basile, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities assisted by Rene Jean Jumeau, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Energy Security and representatives of the Presidency and the Primature, met in Port-au-Prince, with members of a delegation representing the inhabitants of Ouanaminthe as interlocutor designated with members of the Government.

This meeting initiated by the Minister of Interior, has set the basis for future negotiations between the population and state authorities around the socio-energy crisis having unfortunately paralyzed Ouanaminthe for more than a week, causing a shortfall for local businesses, as well as for the population, in addition to having led to many tensions and loss of goods.

The Minister emphasized with the delegation on the importance of bringing peace in the region and calling people to regain confidence in the authorities, who at political and technical level have already begun to address the issue of access to electricity in Ouanaminthe in particular and throughout the West in general.

David Basile reminded his interlocutors that his ministry had just injected through the North-West Intervention Programme (PINNE) considerable funds to strengthen fifteen municipality including Ouanaminthe to increase the quality and availability of basic services to the population. Further emphasizing the necessity of maintain a climate of peace in the region, to ensure sustainability and proper functioning of multiple investments made ​​by the Government Martelly / Lamothe for the development and growth of the Great North.
