Haiti - Tourism : Exploratory Mission in agro-tourism and eco-tourism in South
Thursday, Patrice Michel of the Ministry of Tourism and the agronomist Carl Mondé, Member of Cabinet of Minister of Agriculture, have completed a 3-days joint exploratory mission, in the department of South and Nippes.

Accompanied by Philippo Pszczolkowski specialist in viticulture, Ena Harvey, Specialist in agro-tourism and eco-tourism and a executive of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, Alain R. Thermil, the delegation visited several communities in the department of South and Nippes.

The two major objectives of the tour were :

- Identify the potential of neighboring municipalities of the Île-à-Vache, either in agro-tourism or eco-tourism in order to provide an additional destination to the Touristic project of Île-à-Vache.

- Identify areas able to grow grapes, increase its productivity and support the marketing of grapes and its derivatives, towards the market of the tourist destination of Île-à-Vache and others.

After having met with local authorities and organizations of Chardonnières, bastion of grapes in the Southern Department, the delegation visited among others : Port a piment (Grotte Marie Jeanne), Coteaux(les 500 marches), Port Salut, Les Cayes, Camp Perrin (Saut Mathurine), Cavaillon and Aquin...

Other missions will be organized for other products such as pineapple, melon, cherry and crayfish.
