Haiti - Economy : The Budget 2013-2014 amended soon resubmitted to Parliament
Friday, Wilson Laleau announced that the Finance Bill 2013-2014 amended should be resubmitted to Parliament for ratification in the next 10 days.

Recall that the Bill for the fiscal year 2013-2014, was filed Thursday, June 27, 2013 by the Government in respect of the constitutional deadline. It was subsequently ratified by the Lower House, 7 August 2013 before being rejected by the Senate September 24, 2013 (7 votes against, 6 for and 4 abstentions), what had forced the government to tyemporarily extend the 2012-2013 budget. The passports fees, the taxes on the slaughter of animals for slaughter, tax income, rental tax and royalties on non-built properties as well as many adjustments of customs tariffs were the reasons given by the Senators.

The Minister Laleau, explained that many working sessions had been conducted since, with the Economy and Finance Committees of both Houses to ensure of the vote of parliamentarians stressing that rejected aspects were mainly due to misunderstandings... Citing as an example the rejection of royalties on non-built properties that parliamentarians after explanations, have finally accepted as well founded.

Jocelerme Privert, President of the Senate Committee "Economy and Finance" confirmed that several meetings had taken place between the Minister Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Planning, Laurent Lamothe and Committees of both Houses.

However, before being re-introduced in Parliament, the Finance Bill 2013-2014 amended will be submitted for comments to groups of civil society.
