Haiti - Diaspora Florida : Little Haiti inaugurates its church, Notre Dame d'Haiti
Saturday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, at the end of his international tour to attract new investment in Haiti, attended in Little Haiti, at the inaugural Mass of the Notre Dame d'Haiti Church. An opportunity for the Head of Government to acknowledge the efforts of the Haitian community in Miami, who after 8 years of hard work, erected at a cost of 5 million U.S. dollars, the Notre-Dame d'Haiti church. Recalling "Little Haiti has suffered greatly over the past two decades, the Church has always been up to its responsibilities. The Head of State and I are proud of you. We're here today, to show you the respect and solidarity of the Haitian Government."

He stressed the participation of Haitian diaspora in the national reconstruction, including their contribution to Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO).



For its part, the Rev. Réginald Jean-Mary, who did not hide his emotion before the importance of the pastoral work for the Haitian community, declared, "This church is the witness of our faith and the unity of our Nation."

More than 2,000 people attended the ceremony including delegates from Boston, New York and the Bahamas. U.S. officials and personalities of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church also participated in this great communion of the Haitian family.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, Prime Minister Lamothe who was accompanied by Lucien Francoeur, Secretary General of the Primature and of Consul General in Miami, Guillaume François, met with leaders and businessmen of the State of Florida, to discuss the strategic development plan of Haiti and opportunities offered by the country in terms of investment.
