Haiti - Cinema : 4th edition of  Festival Muestra Caribe

The Haitian Foundation « Mwen WÈ Mwen » (MWÈM) and the International Centre for Documentation and Information Haitian, Caribbean and African-Canadian (CIDHICA) in coordination with the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), the Ministry of Jamaican Culture and UNESCO, bring in Haiti from 6 to 13 February 2014, the 4th edition of the Festival Muestra Caribe.

This 4th edition, which has the support of various public and private organizations, is dedicated to filmmakers from the diaspora with the theme "The Caribbean that unites us." Programming includes documentaries, fiction and animation, short and feature-length films by filmmakers from 12 countries and territories of the Wider Caribbean and South America (Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Costa Rica, Brazil and the Bahamas), and also includes co-productions with the UK, the U.S. and France.

Screenings for FREE will be held at the French Institute of Haiti (IFH) and knowledge and freedom Foundation (FOKAL) and in other places.

Established in 2007, this festival of mobile cinema, celebrates the Caribbean cinema, which remains unknown despite its richness and diversity. The aim is to provide better visibility to films produced in the area beyond language barriers, and contribute to the development of cinema and audiovisual in Caribbean countries.

The Foundation MWÈM was created in Port-au-Prince in 2003 by a group of artists and media specialists to develop awareness and understanding of the cultural heritage of Haiti, save and share the visual heritage of the country and wake a sense of belonging among the population. It is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of visual arts (photography, video and cinema), as well as education, training and services to the public in these areas.

Founded in 2003, the International Centre for Documentation and Information Haitian, Caribbean and African - Canadian is a non-profit organization designed to promote the arts and the creation from these cultures. Its activities are organized around four areas: information and documentation (documentation center in Montreal), scientific and cultural activities (organization of exhibitions, lectures, screenings, etc..), Publishing (books and magazines) and audiovisual productions (the CIDHICA has already made five movies).
