Friday, following the appointment on February 3, of the new members of the Cartel of the municipality of Cité Soleil, Major David Basile, Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, proceeded during an official ceremony after reading of the order signed by the highest authorities of the country to the installation of new Cartel responsible for local administration of Cité Soleil until the next elections : Rénald Jolifils, Président, Esaie Beauchard and Paul Joseph, Member.

The ceremony was attended by Georges Racine, a representative of the Presidency and other actors and notables of the area, which made a common front at the talks in January, initiated by the Minister of the Interior, to restore calm in Cité Soleil.

In his speech, Minister Basil called the new interim agents and citizens of Cité Soleil, gathered in large numbers at this time, to stay united to overcome various difficulties and improve their community.

Recalling the new mandated, in addition to their tasks and powers prescribed by law, they were also responsible, to be the main intermediary between the people and those in power in the struggle against exclusion, the extreme poverty, violence, unemployment, to bring the development.

The Minister also announced that Cité Soleil, will receive a special recovery program of the Government, which will be placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"Cité Soleil is on a new departure : no longer injustice, guns nor bloodshed, all together for the rule of law, peace and development," insisted David Basile addressing the new Cartel and many residents both inside and outside the building housing the mayor of Cité Soleil in Sartre.

Finally, the Minister reminded the members of the new Cartel their obligation to success for a dignified transition in this election year. He also reiterated the commitment of his ministry in the process of strengthening of the municipality, both in terms of skills to provide the municipal administration, than by accessibility and continuous improvement of the quality of basic services to the population, in accordance with the directives of the President Martlelly and the Head of Government, Laurent Lamothe who made poor a priority, while keeping the focus on social growth and sustainable development.
