Haiti - Security : One hundred solar street lights installed in Raboteau
Tuesday, less than 2 weeks before the holding of National Carnival in the city of Gonaives (2.3 and 4 March 2014), the section Community Violence Reduction of the Minustah, in partnership with local authorities, the Ministry of Public Works and the National Police of Haiti, proceeded to the inauguration of a lighting system in the neighborhood of Raboteau in the presence of the Mayor of the city of Gonaives, Steven Saint-Fleur and Chief Commissioner of Police of the city, Clivens Cétoute.

This project that has allowed the installation of a hundred solar street lights in the area of ​​Raboteau, aims primarily to ensure the night, a better climate of security and create a renewed economic and social activities within the community. More than 5,000 families in this area and around benefit directly from the street lighting system.

During the project, more than thirtyyouth at risk got a temporary job and was also trained in installing solar streetlights.
