Haiti - Politic : Martelly will invite the Pope Francis in Haiti 21/02/2014 10:40:35
In an interview to be aired Saturday on France 24, the President Michel Martelly interviewed by journalist Marc Perelman announces in particular that Haiti is officially candidate to host the Francophonie Summit in 2016 "[...] now havingthis summit be able to organize his summit of the Francophonie in Haiti it would have big impact for us [...] we are officially candidate." A subject that the President discussed Thursday with Victorin Lurel, the Minister for Overseas French Territories. Responding to a question of journalist on the visit of Pope in Haiti, President Martelly announced his intention to invite the Holy Father "[...] certainly, the last time we received a Pope in Haiti, it was in March 1983, Pope Francis I think it would be welcome. It represents exactly what we do, we prioritize the welfare of those who have been neglected, for I would say more than decade, it is for them that we work, we work for everyone, but especially for those who live in the harshest conditions. So my social vision joined that of the Pope and I think it should go in Haiti, see a little, give advice, pray with us, because our problems are primarily internal. We need to reconnect between Haiti, to reconcile, we need prayer." An invitation that will be supported by Mgr Chibly Langlois, who had also declared in Port-au-Prince before leaving for the Vatican, its intention to invite the Pope Francis to paid a visit to Haiti.
