Haiti - Technology : New technologies at the service of public health
Wednesday, Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of the Republic, met at the National Palace, Florence Duperval Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population, a delegation from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) led by its Deputy Director, Mark White and Tanou Diallo, regional Representative of Pathfinder around the presentation of Commcare program, a new tool for management and monitoring of emergencies.

This IT device, managed by the Ministry of Health, willallow to ensure an effective and faster management of emergencies. According to the Minister Guillaume, Commcare will also allow to generate on the medium and long term, with the help of digital tablet, data for better decision making in the field of global health in Haiti, including through the Multipurpose Community health workers (ACP).

The First Lady, did not hide his satisfaction with this initiative, which constitute a more, to the efforts to develop the health sector, including emergency care in Haiti. A first phase of the project will be tested during the National Carnival, in the framework of the campaign on road safety, to promote the rapid evacuation of potential road accident victims.

The program Commcare come in support to the strengthening of the Ministry of Health by USAID through the Quality Health Services for Haiti (SSQH).
