During a press conference held at the diplomatic lounge of the airport, the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, Mgr. Guire Poulard, thanked the Head of State for the "grandiose welcome" reserved to His Eminence Cardinal. He also sent his compliments to the Diocese of Les Cayes and to the Cardinal Langlois, that he described as "a friend, a brother".

For its part, the President Martelly, thanked His Holiness Pope Francis for the elevation of Monsignor Langlois to the dignity of Cardinal, has congratulated the new Cardinal. He recalled his involvement in the ongoing dialogue and the need for redoubled efforts to preserve the acquis. To this end, the Head of the State promised to devote the best of himself.

In his speech, Cardinal Chibly Langlois expressed its appreciation vis-à-vis Mgr. Guire Poupard. He also thanked the President of the Republic for his presence, which translated for him, "a sign of harmony between the State and the Church." Considering his promotion as a grace and a great responsibility, Cardinal Chibly Langlois, reiterated his willingness and readiness to serve declaring "The other countries do not emerge without sacrifices. The dialogue must continue."
