Haiti - Agriculture : Project of Agricultural and Ecological city in Thomonde
Recently, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), accompanied by Wolff Dubique, Counsellor for Legal Affairs of the Ministry, Abel Metelus, Director of Budget and members of his cabinet, proceeded to the signing of a memorandum of agreement with the Company Copireca S.A. (Compagnie de Promotion Immobilière et de Ressources Agricoles) represented by Philippe Wajntraub, Chairman of the Board of Directors. This agreement concerns the construction, development and operation of an Integrated Agricultural Development Project of an Agricultural and Ecological city in the area of ​​Thomonde [near the Dominican border, Central Department, Borough of Hinche], including the towns of Bernarco, Muscady, Locaret, Marmont and Boucabtins.

Following the signing of this agreement the Haitian government, through the MEF, will make a contribution of approximately 1,400 hectares of land as an investment in a Joint Limited Company (JLC), to be created between the Haitian state and the society Copireca S.A. This JLC will appeal to other shareholders and engage in the design, coordination and supervision of the farm complex.
