Haiti - NOTICE : MPCE denies rumors about the privatization of public beach of Carriès

Following rumors suggesting that the public beach (Plage Préval) located in Carriès, would be privatized, causing Monday strong reactions of anger among residents, who blocked trafficon the National #1, residents, for several hours, between Saint Médard and Carriès, throwing stones at motorists and required the intervention of security forces to disperse demonstrators and restore traffic, the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation in a statement brought ​​a formal denial to this rumor.

"The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) wishes to make a formal denial in regard to misinformation in circulation, which suggests that the public beach located in Carriès will be privatized.

These false allegations, participate to the willingness of a fringe of the opposition, which wants to destabilize the country.

The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, together with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) intends to conduct remediation and rehabilitation of the public beach, which is in a deplorable state. In this context, technicians have been dispatched to conduct an assessment of the work required.

The Office of Communication of MPCE, relies on the understanding of everyone and take this opportunity to appeal for calm the population of Carriès."

Note that this beach will soon be closed to the public for a few weeks, the time to perform the cleanup and rehabilitation to make this tourist site, appreciated by residents and the diaspora, a place more attractive.
