Haiti - Health : Sophia Martelly provides support to people with tungiasis 19/03/2014 11:48:04
Accompanied by Dr. Robert Honoré, Departmental Director of Health in Artibonite, some members of the Ministry of Public Health, of the Office of Insurance Work Accident, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) and the Director of the Fondation Rose et Blanc, the First Lady wanted, with this gesture, show people that it is not left behind. "Once informed of this situation, the President Martelly has asked me to hurry to come and see the situation. This is what brings me here today to Médor. I am here to witness the President's commitment that works for you." Ms. Silencienne Balthazar Cariétane, General Coordinator of the "Group of Women Organized for the Development of Médor" (GROFODEM), the main defender of the cause of the people of Médor in this case, did not hide her satisfaction with the quick response of the First Lady.  The visit of Sophia Martelly was an opportunity to distribute thousands of pairs of shoes [the flea Chique causes lesions mainly in bare feet], clothing, hygiene kits and equipment to treat people with this disease. Recall being notified of this situation in 2013, Ms. Martelly had already sent equipment to treat people with tungiasis.
