Friday at the Primature, Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works and Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation between Vietnam and Haiti .

On the basis of this agreement, both parties are committed to the following:

Exchange of information and knowledge between the two countries;

Technical assistance to Haiti in the production of electricity using alternative resources;

Improving the business environment in terms of energy;

Establishment of a monitoring system in the energy sector;

Planning and development of a national electricity grid;

Development of a framework regulation for the energy sector;

Development of a domestic lighting program;

Exchange of expertise;

Implementation of energy research projects.

The MoU which aims to develop and strengthen the energy sector in Haiti, is part of the commitment of the Administration Martelly and Lamothe government to ensure the availability of electricity throughout the country.
