Haiti - Social : A young Haitian journalist, winner of Prix Chaffanjon

Ralph Thomassaint Joseph (27) a young Haitian journalist, received at the Maison de la Radio in Paris, the Prix Chaffanjon (The Prix gave 2500 euros per winning reportage) as best multimedia journalist in Haiti.

This award created in May 2013, reflects the sense of ethics and commitment to promote French and Haitian journalistic talents that characterized the reporter Philippe Chaffanjon, Network Director France Bleu and former director of France Info, disappeared in April 2013, The Prix Philippe Chaffanjon, aims to reward in particular, field reports, which reflect the accuracy of the facts related.

Mixing images and sound, the award-winning story of Ralph Thomassaint Joseph, tells the life of a woman in a camp, Islène Clervil, who lost his two hands in the 2010 earthquake. This report highlights the situation of people affected by a disability as a result of the earthquake.

Ralph Thomassaint Joseph was trained in multimedia journalism as part of project "Solidar'IT, speech to Haitians", supported by the Fondation de France. During this training, he began to make documentaries with the camera he received as the best student of the course. He was particularly among the journalists who realized the web-documentary "Goudou Goudou, the ignored voice of the reconstruction", project awarded at International Festival of Internet TV in La Rochelle (France).

For this first edition, the jury chaired by Jacques Expert, Program Director Radio Television Luxembourg (RTL) had received 64 nominations, including 58 French and 6 Haitians.
