![]() Haiti - Social : The population of Île-à-Vache will finally have access to drinking water 10/04/2014 10:18:18
Recall that the problem of drinking water has always been on the list of the many challenges faced by residents, forced to buy water from Les Cayes. Informed of the situation and aware of the high importance of water treated in public health, the Prime Minister had promised to the population, the building of 5 public fountains and digging of 7 wells on the island. Mrs. Sabine Malebranche of the firm SODAD, gave assurance that these wells will be operational by next month and will serve 80% of the inhabitants of the island, noting that the construction of these wells has already created 50 direct jobs in the areas of "Kay Kòk" and "Madam Bèna" These new jobs are in addition to hundreds of other generated by the construction of several stretches of road on the island whose company "Estrella" is the prime contractor. Moreover, the interventions of the National Social Assistance "Ede Pèp" program will be strengthened to fight against extreme poverty and food insecurity in the region. More than 641 mothers are already registered in the sub program "Ti manman cheri" and will receive a monthly allowance to enable them to organize and address their needs. In addition, 7,000 "Panye solidarite" and 5,000 emergency vouchers will be distributed to residents of the island over the next 6 months. HL/ HaitiLibre
